Summer is fading fast and we are all just shaking our heads and wondering where the time went. In the next few days we will be sending out a survey to assess Winter play needs and also a recruitment for Winter play leads. Here are some other important items you should know about:
Volunteer Appreciation
Linda and Kevin English are hosting a Volunteer Appreciation evening on September 25 and you should have already received an email about it with a link to the details and registration. If you missed it, let us know and we’ll resend it.
Referee Training
Irene Fraties is conducting referee training on September 21 and 22. WE NEED REFEREES!! Please contact Irene at ifraties@bendpickleballclub.com for more information or to sign up.
Pickleball Classes
Bend Parks has had overwhelming demand for pickleball classes at all levels and has extended their class offerings through September. There is a link on the BPC webpage under the Clinics>Beginner Lessons tab if you are interested or know someone else who is.
Pickkleball Documentary
For those of you who are interested in the progress of Josh Cordell’s pickleball documentary that will feature the Bend Pickleball Club, please know that he is well underway and (since he is putting all paying projects on hold and is working full time on this) he is still in need of funding. The Bend Pickleball Club is making a contribution, as have some of the board members. If you would like to participate directly, please go to his funding site.
Endorsements and Promotions
Recently folks have asked us to send out messages to you, on our email list, on behalf of different (and undoubtedly worthwhile) charities, activities and events. As a matter of club policy, we only send out solicitations (such as the one regarding funding for Josh’s documentary, above) if the club is directly involved with the charity, activity or event and if it directly supports the club, members, and/or growth of pickleball.
Organized Play Time Changes
Please note that organized play times will change beginning on September 7. CoedMXR sessions will begin at 08:30a.m. (arrive and be registered by 8:20) and Round Robin sessions will begin at 10:30a.m. (arrive and be registered by 10:20.) “Ya snooze, ya lose.” This schedule will remain through the end of the outdoor season, which is tentatively planned to end in mid to late October. Brian Firebaugh is trying to sell his soul in exchange for being able to keep things going at PNP for as long as possible.
Ratings Policy and Procedures
The BPC ratings policy has been revised and is now posted under the Play tab on the BPC website. Please take a few minutes to read through it and contact the Ratings Committee if you have questions or concerns. The Ratings Committee has processed over 140 ratings change requests to date. If you recently had a rating change and plan to play in tournaments please update your profile on Pickleballtournaments.com.
