Werner Zehnder passed away peacefully at home on September 5.

His passing leaves a hole in our hearts and our community. Werner gave of his time, energy, and resources to create environments where people could get together and enjoy socializing and engaging in physical and mental activity. In doing so, he contributed to the health and well-being of the many pickleball enthusiasts who live in and visit the area. He was a great friend and a visionary leader with charm, charisma, and a terrific sense of humor. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy with his many contributions to Bend Pickleball Club and the community. His spirit will remain with us as we enjoy the fruits of his efforts. Rest in peace, Werner.

We will keep you apprised of any plans for services.

On Friday September 5th my dearest friend, Werner Zehnder went into the Lords hands. Our friendship, which began in 2011, when we both showed up to tape temporary courts at a local high school, yes that’s what we did in those days. Remembered for his generosity and strong Swiss accent, a cherished friend who significantly contributed to the local pickleball community by helping raise funds for courts. Later he and his lovely wife, Susan co-founded Bend’s first indoor pickleball facility, Pickleball Zone. Our friendship included partnering in tournaments and enjoying golf together. Werner's kindness leaves a lasting impact on all who knew him. Rest in peace dear friend!
