In Memory of Werner Zehnder

In Memory of Werner Zehnder
1949-2025

Werner Zehnder passed away peacefully at home on September 5.

His passing leaves a hole in our hearts and our community. Werner gave of his time, energy, and resources to create environments where people could get together and enjoy socializing and engaging in physical and mental activity. In doing so, he contributed to the health and well-being of the many pickleball enthusiasts who live in and visit the area. He was a great friend and a visionary leader with charm, charisma, and a terrific sense of humor. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy with his many contributions to Bend Pickleball Club and the community. His spirit will remain with us as we enjoy the fruits of his efforts. Rest in peace, Werner.

We will keep you apprised of any plans for services.

Kirk Foster, President
Bend Pickleball Club

Werner was always very pleasant and welcoming. He created wonderful spaces and opportunities for people to play a game they love. For those of us who play pickleball, we know that it's more than just a game. Pickleball is a way to meet new friends, create community, challenge ourselves, and enjoy a bit of exercise. I remember when Pickleball Zone was under construction and wondering how its completion would affect our games. I soon realized that The Zone would become a "second home"; a place to connect with so many others who shared a mutual passion. It's our version of "Cheers Bar". When we arrive at the 3rd floor lobby you know you're going to see many friendly familiar faces. Without Werner's vision, Bend would not be the pickleball hub that it is today. I am grateful for all that Werner did to enhance the pickleball community here in Bend. He will be greatly missed.
